Cobb), and you will a great scuffling actress (Evelyn Keyes) whoever brother (Nina Foch) has worked within gambling enterprise and dated good corrupt investigator (Jim Bannon). Cobb, because the an authorities inspector, including in the rating . Whilst the spot comes after a familiar trend, the new characterizations was fresh while the performances sufficient so you can overbalance. Dialogue is actually terse and topical, preventing the emotional, phoney touching. Unusual camera angles come along occasionally in order to escalate desire and briefly stop the attention. Good teamplay from the Robert Rossen, doubling because movie director-scripter, and Milton Holmes, amazing blogger and you may member music producer, plus aids in making this a mellow production.” [ eleven ]

Its mainly an issue of viewing Mr. Powell undergo their paces smartly if you’re a huge cast from stars and stars offer your regular help. Evelyn Keyes plays the nice little lady just who brings out the newest best in your and you may Ellen Drew is the smooth and you may slinky vixen exactly who will get him into the jams. Thomas Gomez was oily as the villain and Lee J. Cobb really does yet another in a position concert tour as the a weary cops inspector who eventually closes the outcome. A lot of taking and you will puffing is completed from the most of the alarmed.” [ twelve ]
